Story Description
The Value of Sharing is the fifth story in the New ValueTales series of illustrated books for children. This touching story of two brothers growing up in Minnesota in the 19th and 20th centuries, clearly teaches children how the value of sharing can help those around them while bringing joy to the person who is sharing.
The Tale of the Mayo Brothers begins when the Will and Charlie are young boys helping their father who is a doctor. The boys learn through their own best thoughts, shown through an imaginary character of a helpful pair of surgical scissors, “Two Sides”, that sharing can even save someone’s life. At young ages both Will and Charlie discover they want to follow in their father’s footsteps and both boys grow up and become doctors.
They take the work their father began, and after several years of sharing their medical knowledge with others, create the Mayo Clinic, one of the most well respected hospitals in the world. Children will be eager to return to the story over and over again, and parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends will find this story is a wonderful way to help children develop a strong sense of sharing.
