It varies, but generally ValueTales^® appeal to a wider range children than we had expected. Children ages 3 to 7 enjoy the books being read to them.  Older children enjoy reading the books on their own and many use them for book reports.

The questions on the ValueTales^® Discussion found on page 63 of the books can be used as prompts to encourage youngsters to think about the story and how they might use the personal value in their own life. These discussions can take place at home, at school, in churches or in library discussion groups.

Yes. The historical facts found on page 64 in each book are taken from creditable sources, such as major encyclopedias and resource materials and are considered to be generally accurate.

Yes. All 24 books in the New ValueTales^® Series have the higher quality, strong library binding to help ensure that they will last longer with repeated use.  The library bindings are provided to encourage multi-generational use of the books.

The interior pages of the books are printed on higher quality, heavier weight paper to ensure a longer life. It is 100# weight versus the normal 80# paper found in many children’s books.

The New ValueTales^® differ from the original books in several ways: They offer updated text which encourages youngsters to think more about how the historical character used the personal value; higher quality paper and library binding; new front and back cover designs; a Discussion page to encourage children to talk about what they think of the story and how they might use the value in their own lives; and enhanced art with more vibrant primary colors to entertain today’s younger generation.

Dr. Johnson created the original ValueTales^®, and more recently the New ValueTales^®, to encourage youngsters to have fun and develop their own personal sense of values.  He created these childrens’ books because he observed that most of us form our personal values when we are very young, and that we often learn best through stories.

Teachers are welcome to use the New ValueTales^® books in a variety of ways they think are most appropriate for their classroom.  Teachers may submit any materials, including student work books, or other teaching aids, based on the new ValueTales^® copyrighted intellectual property to us for review and will be granted a royalty free license for a limited period of time for the use of these materials in their own classrooms, on the condition that they become the property of the ValueTales^® copyright holder and that they may be shared with other teachers for use in other classrooms.
